ARKANSAS, Nov 11 (Future Headlines)- Delta, a leading provider of power and thermal management solutions, has unveiled its latest innovation, the Open Rack version 3 (ORV3) 1 OU 18 kW power shelves, at the OCP Global Summit in San Jose, California, USA. This high-efficiency power shelf is strategically designed to drive substantial energy savings in AI servers, catering to the evolving demands of advanced technologies such as AI, 5G, and automation in the server market.

The ORV3 power shelf incorporates Delta’s new 3kW power supply units (PSU) that boast over 97.5% peak efficiency. This efficiency is crucial for AI data centers seeking optimal performance while minimizing energy consumption. Delta’s power shelf integrates the power management controller (PMC) with an industry-leading Power over Ethernet (PoE) function. This enables smart power management within AI data centers, enhancing operational efficiency.

Designed in line with ORV3 standards, the power shelf provides high scalability and efficiency. Its flexibility caters to a wide range of applications, including hyper-scale data centers, meeting the diverse needs of clients adopting the third generation of Open Rack. Conforming to the Open Rack Standard V 3.0 busbar definition, the 18 kW power shelf addresses the increasing demand for higher power density. This is particularly relevant as AI, 5G, and automation technologies drive up power requirements in modern servers.

The power shelf offers a 48/50 VDC output voltage, deviating from the traditional 12 VDC. This alteration aims to reduce electricity distribution losses, contributing to overall energy efficiency in data centers. With a maximum 18 kW power output (or 15 kW with 5+1 redundancy), the power shelf accommodates six 3 kW hot-pluggable power supply units. Each unit exhibits a 150% load capability for 20 milliseconds, ensuring protection against sudden current increases.

The power shelf supports various communication protocols, including PMBus over I2C and RS485, ensuring secure monitoring and control. This enhances the manageability of the power infrastructure within data centers. Both the power shelf and PMC with PoE function are customizable in terms of hardware and firmware, allowing clients to tailor the solutions to their specific energy efficiency and operational requirements.

  • Delta’s Commitment to Sustainability

Delta’s introduction of the ORV3 power shelves aligns with its commitment to providing innovative, clean, and energy-efficient solutions for a sustainable future.
