ARKANSAS, Nov 14 (Future Headlines)- Energy companies BKV and Enlink Midstream announced the successful completion of the first carbon dioxide (CO2) injection at the Barnett Zero Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) facility in Texas, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of carbon capture technology. The facility, designed to serve as a prototype for future projects, surpassed expectations by completing the injection ahead of schedule.
The Barnett Zero CCS facility, situated in the Barnett shale in north Texas, is a collaborative effort between BKV and Enlink Midstream. The facility is set to play a crucial role in demonstrating the viability and efficiency of carbon capture and storage, contributing to the broader goal of achieving net-zero emissions.
One of the key aspects of this initiative is the sequestration rate, with the Barnett Zero CCS facility expected to achieve an average rate of up to 210,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent per year. The operational process involves EnLink transporting natural gas produced by BKV from the Barnett shale to its Bridgeport processing plant.
