Nestled in Kern County, California, this monumental project spans 4,660 acres in the Mojave Desert and stands as a testament to the immense potential of renewable energy solutions.
Edwards & Sanborn, developed, owned, and operated by Terra-Gen, is a colossal project comprising 875 megawatts (MW) of solar energy coupled with an impressive 3,320 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy storage. This monumental project occupies both private land and portions of Edwards Air Force Base, representing a historic public-private partnership with the US Air Force. Constructed by Mortensen, the project boasts an expansive infrastructure, featuring 1.9 million First Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and 120,720 long-duration energy storage batteries supplied by LG Chem, Samsung, and BYD. The entire system is intricately connected by a network of 400 miles of wiring.
The Edwards & Sanborn project is a powerhouse of renewable energy, generating a remarkable 875 MWdc of solar energy. Complemented by 3,287 MWh of energy storage, the project’s total interconnection capacity reaches an impressive 1,300 MW.
